Rackspace

Rackspace is a measure of how much physical space your server will take up in our server racks. One Unit is 1.75 inches tall, 19 inches wide, and up to 36 inches deep. A shape quite similar to a pizza box. If your server is a "normal" computer (Tower, etc), please contact us for a custom size quote.

Outlets

However many outlets your server needs. Typically this is just one, however some servers have dual power supplies and require two (or more) outlets.

Processor

Unless you have plans to run a large database or web applications, the processor is possibly he least important item when it comes to web serving. However if you plan to run web applications, process intensive scripts, the CPU becomes very important.

Hard Drive(s)

Most operating systems take up about 500MB of space, but the rest of the space is available to use however you desire. If the server has two or more drives that are the same size, you can link them together in a software RAID setup that will increase the reliability of your data. If you want a hardware RAID solution, please contact us directly.

RAM

When it comes to web hosting, RAM is a crucial component. The more RAM you have, the more visitors your server can handle at one time.

Operating System

We have skilled technicians who are familiar with almost any operating system, though Linux is our true strength. We can install any distribution of Linux or BSD that you would like (Slackware, Debian, Red Hat, etc), and will configure the partition map to your specifications. Of course, if you 're unfamiliar with this, we can just set you up with that we feel is best for your situation.

IP Addresses

All of the servers we offer support name based hosting - which allows you to host multiple domains on a single IP address. However if you have needs that require multiple IP addresses, we will be happy to supply them for you. The cost is $15/month for 8 additional IP addresses.

Free Starter Support

Getting started with a dedicated server can be a tricky proposition. And you should not have to deal with any unexpected support costs while you are setting up your server. Starter support provides you with three free hours of support per month, for the first three months of your contract. That's a value of $900! (For Linux servers only)

Sensible Support Pricing

When you need help, you need it right away, and you need it to be affordable (if not free). For most small support items, we don't charge anything. And if you do require that we do a lot of work on your server, our very reasonable rate of $25 per 15 minutes applies.

Server Management

We offer two levels of server monitoring and support that go beyond our standard managing and support. The Enhanced Monitoring includes our basic monitoring (Server Availability & Watching one service) Plus the following:

CPU Load
Memory Usage
Disk Usage
Unlimited Processes
Any specific web pages

Our Basic Server Management includes all of our standard support features mentioned above, and the following:

Operating system management
Software updates (PHP upgrades, etc)
Software installations (ImageMagick, etc)

The Full Server management includes both the Enhanced Monitoring and the Basic Server Management. These services can also be added at a later date if you find that you do expert assistance with your server.

Burstable Bandwidth

Your bandwidth is not limited or metered in any way shape or form. Your server is given a full 100/10 ethernet connection to our unsaturated OC-12c Internet connection. Go as fast as you want, we can handle it.

International Fiber Connections

Our datacenter is situated on the Global Crossing network, which means that we have dedicated optic fiber connections across both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. This means that access to out datacenter is lightning fast around the world.

Data Transfer

Data Transfer is a measure of how much data moves in and out of your server. We measure this by polling the speed of data moving in and out of your server, every 5 minutes. We then average the speed, and use that speed to determine how much data you moved over the course of the month. Additional traffic may be purchased at $1/GB.

128-Bit Secure Certificate

If you require a secure certificate for a site on your server, we can provide you with the very best. 128-Bit encryption is the highest available, and average turnaround on a SSL Certificate install is about 5 hours.

Web Management Interface

All of our servers come with a web based administration panel. Our Linux servers use the Open Source Webmin Interface (screen shots), though upgrades to CP+ or cPanel are available.

Root Access

This is your server. You have full super user rights, and can access the server in any manner that you please.

PHP

All servers come with the latest release version of PHP scripting language installed.

Perl

All servers come with the latest release version of Perl scripting language installed.

MySQL

All servers come with the latest release version of MySQL database software installed.

Webalizer

All servers come with the Webalizer statistics package installed.
